Things You Need to Know When Putting Baby to Sleep
- Normal, healthy infants should ALWAYS sleep on their backs.

- Choose a crib which meets current federal and ASTM standards.
- Choose a firm mattress that fits snugly in the crib.
- Be sure the fitted crib sheet fits the mattress and covers the mattress corners.
- Only a fitted crib sheet, mattress pad, and/or waterproof pad should be used between the baby and the crib mattress.
- Quilts, comforters, and blankets should NEVER be placed under the baby.
- NEVER place any covering higher than baby's shoulders.
- NEVER place infants to sleep on pillows, sofa cushions, adult beds, waterbeds, beanbags, or any other surface not specifically designed for infant sleep
- Do not overdress your baby. If you feel comfortable, your baby will too.
